SUMMARY:Fall 2024 Classroom Inclusivity Reading Groups
DESCRIPTION:This fall the Rutgers University-New Brunswick community have the opportunity to participate in reading groups for the book Enhancing Inclusive Instruction: Student Perspectives and Practical Approaches for Advancing Equity in Higher Education. These discussion groups will meet approximately four times during the semester and will be facilitated by the lead author\, Dr. Tracie Addy\, the founding director of the newly launched Institute for Teaching\, Innovation\, and Inclusive Pedagogy. During these sessions\, instructors and support staff will:\n• Learn approaches for fostering inclusivity in their courses through the voices of students\,\n• Hear how colleagues are considering implementing inclusive instruction\, and\n• Build community with instructors outside of their departments within the Rutgers University—New Brunswick community.

DESCRIPTION:The Classroom Inclusivity Series coordinated by the Office of Teaching Evaluation Assessment Research (OTEAR) will provide opportunities for continuous learning on cultivating welcoming\, engaged learning environments that support student success. Topics such as trauma-informed teaching\, accessibility\, alternative grading\, formative assessment\, culturally-responsive teaching\, the CLARA method\, and more are the focus of initiatives led by campus partners across a variety of formats. SUMMARY:Preparing for Peer Review of Teaching (Virtual Interactive Workshop)
DESCRIPTION:Facilitating Unit: Office of Teaching Evaluation and Assessment Research (OTEAR) \nPeer review of teaching is an important part of the advancement\, reappointment\, and promotion process for instructors of all ranks. This workshop is primarily designed to prepare reviewers tasked with conducting peer review of teaching\, but instructors preparing to be observed may also find this session helpful. This session focuses on peer review of in-person classroom instruction and peer review of course materials\, and provides suggestions for effectively documenting observations. A version of this workshop was previously offered in Spring 2024. \nREGISTER
