SUMMARY:Fall 2024 Classroom Inclusivity Reading Groups
DESCRIPTION:This fall the Rutgers University-New Brunswick community have the opportunity to participate in reading groups for the book Enhancing Inclusive Instruction: Student Perspectives and Practical Approaches for Advancing Equity in Higher Education. These discussion groups will meet approximately four times during the semester and will be facilitated by the lead author\, Dr. Tracie Addy\, the founding director of the newly launched Institute for Teaching\, Innovation\, and Inclusive Pedagogy. During these sessions\, instructors and support staff will:\n• Learn approaches for fostering inclusivity in their courses through the voices of students\,\n• Hear how colleagues are considering implementing inclusive instruction\, and\n• Build community with instructors outside of their departments within the Rutgers University—New Brunswick community.

Topics such as trauma-informed teaching\, accessibility\, alternative grading\, formative assessment\, culturally-responsive teaching\, the CLARA method\, and more are the focus of initiatives led by campus partners across a variety of formats. SUMMARY:IDEA Innovation Grants Applications Due
DESCRIPTION:The Inclusion\, Diversity\, Equity\, and Advocacy (IDEA) Innovation Grants Program\, launched by the Tyler Clementi Center for Diversity Education and Bias Prevention\, is a university-wide initiative that demonstrates how we can join together as a community to support institutional change. Taking an active role in building an inclusive community is the responsibility of us all. With grants ranging from $1\,500 to $2\,500\, IDEA Innovation Grants offer a way for creative\, innovative\, and grassroots efforts to join in the larger institutional strategy. \nNote: Applications are due on October 27th at 11:59 PM.
