SUMMARY:AI in Teaching and Learning at Rutgers: A New Chapter in Higher Education
DESCRIPTION:This is the inaugural event of the University Librarian’s Symposium Series. The intent of the series is to engage the entire Rutgers community on timely topics in higher education\, focusing on a different theme each year. The theme for the 2025–2026 academic year is Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education. \nThe emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) in scholarly communications and many aspects of higher education has raised questions about whether it should be used\, its environmental impact\, and its potential to discourage problem solving and creativity. The reality is that it’s here to stay\, and what’s needed is proactive consideration of both potential benefits and ways to mitigate disruption. \nThe first event of this series will focus on the role of AI in teaching and learning at Rutgers. It will be held on November 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Teleconference Lecture Hall on the fourth floor of Alexander Library. Breakfast\, lunch\, and afternoon refreshments will be provided. \nA recording of the event will be posted on the Rutgers University Libraries website at a later date. \nView the agenda
