SUMMARY:Best Practices for Peer Review of Online Teaching (Virtual Interactive Workshop)
DESCRIPTION:This session will be offered by the Office Teaching Evaluation and Assessment Research: \nPeer review of teaching plays a crucial role in the advancement\, reappointment\, and promotion process for instructors across all ranks. Many educators now teach courses with significant online components\, including asynchronous online\, synchronous online\, and hybrid formats. Peer review of these courses presents unique challenges\, such as defining the concept of “observation\,” understanding the integration of course design and student engagement\, and recognizing the specific challenges faced by both instructors and students in online settings. This workshop offers a platform to share best practices and engage in discussions about these issues. If you wish to attend the workshop or to receive the video recording after the workshop\, please register. \nREGISTER

SUMMARY:Exploring the AI Assessment Scale
DESCRIPTION:What does it really mean to design assessments in a world where generative AI is at our fingertips? This interactive session dives into that question by introducing the AI Assessment Scale (AIAS) (Perkins et al.\, 2024)\, a flexible\, practical tool for crafting assessments that are transparent\, ethical\, and effective across disciplines. We’ll explore real-world examples and take part in hands-on\, collaborative activities. Participants will also get a chance to try out the AIAS Chatbot available on OpenAI\, putting the framework into action with their own course materials. Whether you’re new to AI or you’re already weaving it into your teaching\, this session aims to provide practical tools and fresh perspectives in today’s classrooms. To get the most out of this session\, come with an assignment in mind that you’d like to revisit through an AI-aware lens.  \nThis session fulfills Competencies 2\, 3\, and 4 of the Teaching and Generative AI Pathways Program.  \nAudience: Open to instructors of all ranks\, appointment types\, and disciplines.  \nRegistration Link \nPerkins\, M.\, Furze\, L.\, Roe\, J.\, & MacVaugh\, J. SUMMARY:Reimagining Assignments in the Age of Generative AI: An In-Person Charrette
DESCRIPTION:Curious about how generative AI is changing the way we craft assignments? Join us for this hands-on\, in-person session (2 hours) where we’ll explore how instructors from different disciplines are rethinking their approaches in response to AI’s growing classroom presence. You’ll reflect on ways to make your own assignments more meaningful\, adaptable\, and AI-aware\, and get valuable feedback in the process. Expect a mix of discussion\, idea sharing\, and peer-to-peer exchange. To make the most of this session\, please bring three (3 copies) of an assignment you’d like reviewed.  \nThis session fulfills Competency 4 of the Teaching and Generative AI Pathways Program.  \nAudience: Open to instructors of all ranks\, appointment types\, and disciplines.  \nRegistration Link
