The Being First Collaborative is a project by the SAS Teaching & Learning team that centers first-generation student voices. This initiative brings together first-generation students and teaching staff to share diverse perspectives and offer guidance on designing accessible, inclusive courses.
Through focus groups and discussions over the past year, the collaborative has identified practical teaching tips and strategies for creating a supportive classroom environment. These resources, grouped into four main themes, give instructors easy ways to foster a first-generation-friendly classroom.
