Exploring the AI Assessment Scale

August 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm

What does it really mean to design assessments in a world where generative AI is at our fingertips? This interactive session dives into that question by introducing the AI Assessment Scale (AIAS) (Perkins et al., 2024), a flexible, practical tool for crafting assessments that are transparent, ethical, and effective across disciplines. We’ll explore real-world examples and take part in hands-on, collaborative activities. Participants will also get a chance to try out the AIAS Chatbot available on OpenAI, putting the framework into action with their own course materials. Whether you’re new to AI or you’re already weaving it into your teaching, this session aims to provide practical tools and fresh perspectives in today’s classrooms. To get the most out of this session, come with an assignment in mind that you’d like to revisit through an AI-aware lens.

This session fulfills Competencies 2, 3, and 4 of the Teaching and Generative AI Pathways Program.

Audience: Open to instructors of all ranks, appointment types, and disciplines.
