Generative AI has moved faster than our collective understanding of its consequences, from data privacy to environmental cost to how it shapes the way we think and learn.
Our discussion will delve into the critical, ethical, and societal considerations of AI. We will examine how biases in training data can lead to discriminatory outcomes, and you’ll learn about the significant environmental consequences of large-scale AI development. We’ll also discuss the potential impact on critical thinking skills in an age of increasing cognitive offloading. This workshop will equip you with the knowledge to critically engage with AI, preparing you to navigate its complexities as both a student and a future professional.
This session can be applied toward Competency 3 of the Teaching and Generative AI Pathways Program and is open to Rutgers University staff and instructors of all ranks, appointment types, and disciplines.
