November 16 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Flyer for the Rutgers University Department of Mathematics PROOF Virtual Speaker Series featuring Dr. Lew Ludwig of Denison University. The talk, “There and Back Again: Teaching Mathematics Differently in the Age of AI,” explores how generative AI is shaping mathematics instruction, assessment, and grading practices. The flyer includes a speaker headshot and Rutgers University logos.

Overview

As part of the Rutgers-New Brunswick Department of Mathematics’ Fall 2026 PROOF Virtual Speaker Series, Dr. Lew Ludwig of Denison University, co-author of The Science of Learning Meets AI, will explore how generative AI has reshaped his approach to teaching mathematics. Drawing on four years of experience adapting courses in the age of AI, Dr. Ludwig will discuss changes to course materials, assessment practices, and standards-based grading, while reflecting on lessons learned along the way. Although rooted in mathematics, the conversation will address questions relevant to educators across disciplines as they navigate the evolving relationship between teaching, learning, and artificial intelligence.
